recent research

In my last project I worked on 'Natural Disaster Risk Management in Microfinance'. I evaluated ongoing plannings to pool natural disaster risks among microfinancial actors and came up with several ideas like pooling credit and insurance risks in one pool and establishing the pool as a mutual or cooperative institution. Such a pool will create the first efficient risk transfer solution for microfinancial actors and enable them to serve the demand of their clients in times of natural disasters.

This research project was connected to my Master's study programme in International and Development Economics at HTW Berlin. The Master Thesis is called 'Natural Disaster Risk Management in Microfinance - Ex-ante Evaluation of GlobalAgRisk's Risk Pooling Concept'.

The Making Finance Work for Africa Partnership (MFW4A) has given me the opportunity

to share my findings on its Africa Finance Forum Blog.
